Who will win the Premiership title race?

Looking at the premiership table there are only four points separating the top seven, with some teams having two games in hand. Who are the contenders?

Liverpool

Liverpool are currently top of the pile joint top with Manchester United on 33 points. Absolutely destroyed everyone last season to win their first title in over 30 years.  Bought heavily during transfer window buying a striker and Thiago Alacantra. They have currently got many injuries including their talisman Virgil Van Dijk and Diogo Jota. Their top three haven’t hit top form as of yet despite putting seven past Crystal Palace. Last four games of the season are potentially winnable. May need a centre back to cover for Van Dijk.

Manchester City

Manchester City came second last season and have spent £154 million on eight players. They are starting to play like the old Manchester City back when Guardiola won the premiership. Injuries to strikers may cause a problem regarding scoring. Have got experience of winning but they don’t seem to have a plan B when it is required. Fixtures at the end of the season are tricky with the likes of Newcastle which may be a tough test.

Tottenham Hotspur

Mourinho has transformed Spurs with a winning mentality he has the guile and charisma to win. Instills believe and players believe in him. A true serial winner wherever he goes. They spent just over £99 million on numerous players and have a lethal striking duo of Kane and Song scoring for fun. Spurs haven’t won anything for a long time and the fixtures towards the end of the season are difficult playing teams like Leicester and Wolves. In addition will Jose implode and severely damage team moral. You get the feeling Jose wants to win the title one more time to proof to himself that he can still win it.

Leicester City

Have not spent big as usual but we’re unlucky not to come in the top four last season. They broke the mould in 2015/16 and have experience players who did win it back then and are still there such as Kasper Schmeichel and Jamie Vardy. In addition they have young and upcoming quality players such as James Madison and Harvey Barnes. Brendan Rodgers is a winner and wants to something in England. Leicester have a tough end of season fixtures including the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham.

Manchester United

It is incredible that we are including Manchester United in this blog. They struggled during the transfer window to get the players they wanted such as Jadon Sancho. Got hammered by Tottenham and there was talk of Ole out. Some fantastic players such as Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford have nullified the team and got them back on track. They are currently in second place on the same points as Liverpool. However you feel they rely on Fernandes too much and Pogba can have an off day. Ole is desperate to win something and stop the drought of not winning anything. Difficult fixtures towards the end of the season including Leicester. Do not have any major injuries at present but one or two injured players could severely harm their progress.
